Profile
Yuichiro Funabashi first encountered taiko when he was studying archeology at university. He entered the Kodo Apprentice Centre in 1998 and became a Kodo member in 2001. Performing pieces across Kodo's widely ranging repertoire with rich emotion, Funabashi is featured mainly on taiko drums, metal percussion instruments and vocals. He also shows flair in his artistic direction for international performing arts festival "Earth Celebration." Funabashi assumed the role of Kodo's deputy ensemble leader in April 2012.
