In light of the nationwide spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we have decided to cancel the upcoming Kodo Special Performance in Asakusa “Tomoe” series scheduled for June 26 through 28 at Asakusa Public Hall in Tokyo. We made this difficult decision because the health and safety of the audience, cast, crew, and community are of paramount importance to us.

The 2020 season was going to be Kodo’s 8th year presenting special performances in Asakusa. We had put our hearts and souls into creating a vibrant new programme to share with everyone this year. Over the past seven years, the people of Asakusa have been so understanding, cooperative, and encouraging to our group. It’s such a shame to see this collaboration between Kodo and Asakusa disrupted, but we are all praying that the lively crowds and the sound of our taiko can safely return to Asakusa soon.

All ticket holders will receive a refund. For details, please contact the ticket outlet where you purchased your ticket(s) and apply for a refund within the designated time frame.

We offer our sincere apologies to everyone who was looking forward to these performances. Please take care and stay safe. We look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible.
