Kodo Performance in Asakusa 2025 “Everlasting”

2025 marks our 13th annual concert series in Tokyo’s Asakusa.
In 2024, Kodo presented “Evermore,” an exploration of the concept of eternity and continuance directed by Masayasu Maeda. In 2025, Maeda will delve further into this theme with “Everlasting” with a select cast, determined to bring new timeless qualities to the forefront of Kodo’s expression.
Surrounded by tradition and innovation in Tokyo, we hope that Asakusa, Kodo’s activities, and our concerts in this vibrant town not only continue to thrive, but thoroughly delight you in new, unique ways.

Kodo’s distinct form and aesthetics change little by little as they are honed and handed down to each new generation, while the spirit and atmosphere of the group remain steadfast. In “Everlasting,” the cast will show you how they embody the Kodo way and heart, individually and collectively. Creating everlasting moments—one movement, one beat, one note at a time.

Layers of resonant, everlasting sound

As we stand here now, there are many elements and dynamics at play.
We are living in a moment we will only encounter right here, right now, as our timelines intersect.

Kodo keeps transforming. We keep searching for new sound encounters.
Listening carefully, looking closely, trying to sense the future that taiko is steering us towards.

Here in Asakusa, the town and its people keep transforming over time, and also in this moment right now.
As we stand here, we experience the colors and scents that only exist in this very moment.

The word “now” describes a moment that will never be repeated.
Now has a sense of intensity.
Rather than feeling it alone, let’s delight in sharing that moment with others.

Lives that intersect, futures built over time, layers of resonant sound.
They make us feel time passing and colors changing firsthand.
Layering upon one another, always remaining.

The moment we feel right now is a point of arrival, a waypoint, and a starting point.
Perhaps it’s not change that we feel—it’s transition.

As we stand here now, we are all standing here thanks to the people we have met, and our timelines that have led us to this moment.

U25 ¥3,500 (limited number of seats available)

※U25 tickets are for ages 6–25 on the day of the performance and can be used for seats alongside general ticketholders. Please bring proof of age ID on the day of the concert.
※Taito Ward residents can receive a ¥500 discount on General tickets purchased at Asakusa Public Hall.
