Kodo’s friend and collaborator Zakir Hussain, the legendary tabla player, passed away on Dec. 15, 2024, in San Francisco.

Zakir appeared as a guest artist at our festival “Earth Celebration” in 2001 and 2007, and collaborated with us on our 20th anniversary “Mondo Head.”
His knowledge about musical instruments, performance style, and passion towards performing arts have continued to have a profound influence on our performances.

We sincerely pray that Zakir rests in peace.
