Sublime Artistry, Thunderous Beats

Kodo returns to Tokyo’s Asakusa for a special concert event to celebrate its 40th anniversary with the supportive community behind its annual summer series. On this occasion, the ensemble will present seven back-to-back performances at Asakusa Kagekijo, a theater inside the grounds of the first amusement park in Japan, Asakusa Hanayashiki.

Director Yuta Sumiyoshi, a driving force within Kodo’s next generation, created Ayumi—meaning “journey”—to weave the ensemble’s past and present into a sublime one-hour work. Performed by a select cast led by Tomohiro Mitome, mainstay of the Kodo stage for 30 years, Ayumi promises to take audiences on an unforgettable ride.

This work will only be presented in Asakusa. Don’t miss it!
