July 9 (Thu)–12 (Sun), 2020 Live-in Workshop “Kodo Juku 2020” (Sado Island, Niigata) ※CANCELED

[Cancellation Announcement] To avoid risking the further spread of COVID-19, we have decided to cancel the upcoming Kodo Juku live-in workshop. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to taking part this year. If you already applied, we will be in touch with you soon.

Ready for a once-in-a-lifetime experience on Sado Island?

The theme of Kodo Juku is passion. Most of the current Kodo members spent their first two years on Sado Island training at Kodo Apprentice Centre in Kakinoura. It’s a commitment that takes a lot of drive and dedication.

This live-in workshop is a four-day escape from your everyday life where you’ll experience the daily life of a Kodo apprentice and play taiko to your heart’s content with facilitator Eiichi Saito. No taiko experience is required.

You’ll also get to know the Kodo’s next-generation hopefuls: the second-year apprentices, who will act as staff at the event. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience limited to first-time participants only, so new encounters and friends await one and all. We hope you’ll come along for this summer retreat!

*Note: Workshop will be conducted in Japanese.
