KENTAtaku YUTAtaku is a quicksilver improv unit formed by Kodo’s Kenta Nakagome and Yuta Sumiyoshi. They will set sail for Niigata City in December for their first performance away from Sado Island.

Get ready for 60 minutes of drumming, drumming, and more drumming. Along with taiko, they’ll be playing instruments they made themselves from all kinds of odds and ends.
With these two, each gig is a wild ride that promises to awaken your instincts and stir your emotions. Whether it’s at the venue or via livestream, one thing is for sure: this improv performance will draw everyone in for a feel-good, one-of-a-kind sound experience.

Yuta Sumiyoshi and I have often enjoyed playing around with drums together, simply playing as we feel.

The more fun we had playing, the more interesting we found drumming.

I have truly believe that having fun like this will lead to something new.

I’ll keep playing and playing, on and on, until I can lose myself in a world of play like a child.
