Kodo Special Performances on Sado Island 2014: Spring

Back for the third year in a row, next spring we will hold another special series of concerts on Sado Island at our local retro playhouse, Shukunegi Community Hall. These performances are centered around Kodo's distinguished members, who formed the foundations of Kodo today when they came together on Sado Island, connected by the performing arts, and joined Kodo's antecedent group Sado no Kuni Onedekoza decades ago. In Spring 2014, Tomohiro Mitome will join the cast for the first time and add even more power to the programme! We hope you will all come along.

Tours include watching the "Kodo Special Performance on Sado Island" and taking a stroll around historic Shukunegi. A local guide will show you around the village and you will stop for tea time at a quaint teahouse.

Information about Sightseeing and Experiences
Taiko Experience with Shinchan-sensei
"Taiko Experience" workshops led by Sado Island Taiko Centre instructor Shin'ichi Sogo a.k.a. Shinchan-sensei. Elementary school students and preschoolers (when accompanied by an adult) are also welcome to join in the fun at these workshops for beginners.

- All "Kodo Special Performance on Sado Island" concert dates (1) 10:00 - 11:00, (2) 13:30 - 14:30, (3) 15:00 - 16:00 (3 times a day)
- *If you join (1), you can see the performance starting at 15:00 on the day.
If you join (2), you can see the performance either starting at 11:00 or 15:00.
If you join (3), you can see the performance at 11:00.

A special pass to visit 4 facilities in Shukunegi is available that offers entry to "Sado Island Ogi Folk Museum," "Seikuro Homestead," "Kaneko Homestead," and "Sankaku-ya (Triangular House)."

Special Event Information
Experience Traditional Rice Planting
We are planning to offer the experience of planting rice by hand in a traditional way using seedlings from a semi-irrigated rice nursery. Details are coming soon!
Local Buses to Ogi Port After the Performances
During the "Kodo Special Performances on Sado Island 2014: Spring" period, a local bus to Ogi Port will depart from Shukunegi at 16:38 daily. Each performance starts at 15:00 and lasts for one hour, so you can use this bus service to travel back to Ogi after the performance.
