Tamasaburo Bando was decorated with the highest honor of France's Order of Arts and Letters, Commander, for his contributions to performing arts and culture to date.
At the award ceremony, Mr. Bando was praised as a Kabuki onnagata (female-role actor), for collaborations with wonderful artists worldwide, and for his performances at Paris' Théâtre du Châtelet in February this year. In 1991, he received the Chevalier medal from the same order, and this time he was awarded the highest rank for his further achievements in the subsequent years.
