We are pleased to announce that Kodo's artistic director Kabuki actor Tamasaburo Bando is going to be recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Property Holder ("Living National Treasure"). Mr. Bando is respected by artists around the world, both as modern Japan's leading Kabuki female-role actor (onnagata) and also beyond the genre of performing arts. It is such a great honor for us to receive Mr. Bando's instruction and leadership in the world of performing arts. Kodo is delighted at this news and our ensemble is enthusiastic to learn more from our artistic director as we aim for greater heights.
