We are pleased announce that we will be holding encore performances of the highly acclaimed Kodo Dadan and Amaterasu productions. Further details will be announced at a later date. We hope you will join us for these special performances.
Kodo Dadan, which means "men drumming" and features young Kodo performers in a bold exploration of pure non-stop physical percussion, is back again this year stronger than ever. This cutting-edge performance will make its foreign debut in February at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France, to be followed by performances in Japan in July in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Kumamoto, and Kyoto.
The on-stage collaboration with Kabuki luminary Tamasaburo Bando which took Kodo to new horizons, Amaterasu, is coming back for a new season in 2013.
We plan to hold performances from July to October 2013 in Tokyo, Niigata (Sado Island), Fukuoka, and Kyoto. The cast will be completely changed, and for the first time in history Kodo will hold auditions in April 2012 for musicians and actors outside the group to join the production.
