The two courses are working hard on different pieces: the Elementary Course is practicing\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Toki no Koe<\/span> and the Intermediate Course is playing <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Atatte Kudakero<\/span>. Each lesson lasts just 90 minutes, but I hear that the\u00a0participants are renting studio space to practice on their own and taking other classes, too. I am constantly astounded by how passionate they are about playing taiko!<\/p>\n<p>On May 31 at Kyowakan&#8217;s annual\u00a0recital, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asano.jp\/kyouwakan\/kyouwasai\/index.html\">Kyowasai<\/a>,&#8221; the participants will perform to demonstrate\u00a0what they have learned during the course. But the emphasis is not on\u00a0&#8220;showing&#8221; people: the focus is on\u00a0the participants enjoying\u00a0playing taiko.
