This is\u00a0Yosuke Oda. Everyone shouted loudly to count\u00a0&#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">ichi, ni, san<\/span> &#8230; (one, two, three&#8230;), and so did I. Then, they performed their piece <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Kazoku<\/span> (Family) for me. They were so upbeat and their cheerful sound echoed throughout\u00a0the hall. After that, I gave my own performance demo. It felt good to play taiko supported by their energy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0857.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4905\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0857-340x225.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Yui Kawamoto\" width=\"340\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just as we started to feel at ease with\u00a0each other, the workshop started! The theme for this workshop was &#8220;Create your own sound.&#8221; Everyone caught on to what I taught\u00a0so quickly, so\u00a0we progressed\u00a0at a good pace. Kate, who interpreted for me, did her best, too. Thank you, Kate!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0882.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4903\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0882-340x225.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Yui Kawamoto\" width=\"340\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the workshop, I asked them to play their piece <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Kazoku<\/span>\u00a0once again to show what they had learned today. They began\u00a0with amazing power and volume, and the rhythm was livelier\u00a0than the first time they played it. They all\u00a0helped each other like a real family and it was an awesome performance.<br \/>\nSeeing their\u00a0performance made me think how good it is to be natural. Being natural and your own sound are directly related.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0896.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4902\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0896-680x465.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Yui Kawamoto\" width=\"640\" height=\"437\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the end, we took this picture and they gave me a lot of presents, too. Thank you very much for today, Raijin Taiko!
