This festival cleansed my soul and gave me a lovely sense of peace.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s festival, &#8220;Nanako Matsuri &#8211; Hana no Jin&#8221; will be held at Sanriku Hana Hotel Hamagiku, Otsuchi, Iwate on December 21 (Sun) from 11:00 am. I<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">t will be packed with wonderful performances, but\u00a0Kodo will not appear this time! We hope you can go along all the same!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/nanako1412_A4_04-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4018\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/nanako1412_A4_04-1-1-340x480.jpg\" alt=\"nanako1412_A4_04-1-1\" width=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/nanako1412_A4_04-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Nanako Matsuri&#8221; Concert Flier (in Japanese)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Tohoku area is a vast treasure trove\u00a0of traditional performing arts.<\/p>\n<p>This festival is planned and presented by\u00a0Nanako &amp; Masayuki Sasayama, whose home is a performance venue for the local <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">kagura<\/span> (sacred Shinto dance &amp; music), and\u00a0folk art professor Hiroyuki Hashimoto. They believe that the folk performing arts in everyone&#8217;s hearts will lead the way to the area&#8217;s recovery from this natural disaster.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4017\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/DSC01301-340x255.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Michiko Chida\" width=\"340\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nanako Matsuri&#8221; is a great festival because you can see an array of performances and it gives you the chance to meet and talk to the members of the various performance groups who uphold their local traditional arts.
