Information Regarding Shukunegi Public Hall during "Kodo Special Performances on Sado Island 2015: Autumn"

This is our fourth year to present our local concert series, "Kodo Special Performances on Sado Island." These concerts have become a regular feature at Shukunegi Public Hall, which was built over half a century ago. We are sincerely grateful to everyone for their continued support each year.

Shukunegi Village, renowned as a designated traditional architecture preservation area, is the pride of Sado Island and in efforts to protect, preserve, and share its charms, the local community has decided that the time has come to reinforce Shukunegi Public Hall against earthquakes. This playhouse opened in 1958 and these renovations aim to restore it to its former glory by maintaining its retro look while improving its safety and usability.

For that reason, the hall will be covered in scaffolding and protective sheeting during our upcoming performances (Sep 19–22), so we would like to thank you in advance for your understanding about the appearance of the venue. We hope you will enjoy our performances inside, despite the scaffolding outside, and join us in looking forward to the new sparkle of this historic gem next spring.

Please rest assured that no construction or works of any kind will take place during the concerts.

See you all soon on Sado Island!
