KASA/MIX 2014

KASA/MIX 2014, presented by Kodo Arts Sphere America, will be held September 1-13, 2014. KASA/MIX is a once-in-a-lifetime trip not to be missed! Held biennially, KASA/MIX brings taiko-loving participants from around the world to Japan and to the Kodo Apprentice Centre in the beautiful mountains of Sado Island. Share in the lifestyle of the apprentices while taking taiko and folk dance workshops with Kodo instructors. This year's instructors will include Yoshikazu Fujimoto and Chieko Kojima. The itinerary will also include visits to renowned taiko makers Asano Taiko in Ishikawa and Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten in Tokyo.

*All workshop instruction and guidance will be given in English.

Sep. 1 Fly to Japan
Sep. 2 Arrive in Kanazawa
Sep. 3 Visit Asano Taiko, Hono-o Daiko workshop
Sep. 4 Travel to Sado Island
Sep. 5 Travel to Kodo Village (morning), then Kodo Apprentice Centre – afternoon workshop
Sep. 6 Kodo Apprentice Centre - workshops
Sep. 7 Kodo Apprentice Centre - workshops
Sep. 8 Kodo Apprentice Centre - morning workshop, leave Kodo Apprentice Centre and travel to Fukaura Schoolhouse
Sep. 9 Sado Island Taiko Centre workshop
Sep. 10 One-day tour of Sado Island
Sep. 11 Travel to Tokyo
Sep. 12 Visit Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten in Tokyo / Free
Sep. 13 Return Home

Fee:
$2,500 U.S. (includes all workshops, accommodations, local transportation to scheduled activities, most meals, hot springs, and extra activities TBA.)
*Fee does not include any international airfares. Each participant needs to make their own travel arrangements to meet the group in Japan.
