A new challenge for Kodo is about to begin, which we will rise to with determination. The first work by our newly appointed artistic director Tamasaburo Bando will be a brand new production called "Kodo One Earth Tour 2012: Legend," which will take to the stage from May 2012.

I have recently accepted the position of Kodo's artistic director and from next year, I will be directing the group's first production. I will be linking the successive masterpieces that have been created through Kodo's journey to date to create a brand new performance. I have chosen "Legend" as the subtitle for this One Earth Tour and plan to add several new elements to the performance. I will add movement to add visual flair to Maki Ishii's "Monochrome," and I am also creating my own new composition for this project. I want the audience to experience the symbolic ritual of the "O-daiko" position being handed down from senior to junior in the second half. I have already immersed myself in the creative process so I can show audiences both the beauty of Sado and the wonder of performing arts. Taking experienced performers and coupling them with young talent, I dream of the expanding the legend of Kodo.
