Shunichiro Kamiya started playing taiko at the age of twelve, and saw Kodo perform for the first time when he was fifteen years old. He entered the Kodo Apprentice Centre in 2012, and became a Kodo member in 2015. On stage, he is featured mainly on taiko drums and metal percussion instruments. A born athlete, he has enjoyed sports since a young age, specializing in karate. As a junior member, he gained a wide range of experience performing with Kodo in Japan and abroad. Through pieces such as Ajara, Color, and Kaden, he continues to expand his expressive skills. He is often featured playing the prominent, high-pitched shime-jishi taiko in ensemble pieces.
