Hailing from Yokohama, Japan, Shogo Yoshii plays taiko (Japanese drum), but is also a featured player on the bamboo flute and kokyu violin, as well as being a versatile singer and dancer. Both Shogo’s arrangements of traditional performing arts and his original compositions are frequently featured on the Kodo stage as well as in studio recordings. Whether performing with Kodo or with artists of other genres both in Japan and abroad, Shogo’s multifaceted talents and innovative ideas bring new color and flare to every project. With Kodo, Shogo strives to draw on his own Japanese roots and tap into Japan’s rich artistic traditions to create something new that can be passed onto future generations.
