MEGURU is a brand new Kodo production that marks the directorial debut of performer Yuta Sumiyoshi. The Novemeber 2018 premiere of this innovative work will kick off a month-long Japan tour.

Showing a new side to Kodo, MEGURU’s broad musical scope is packed with experiments like never before. With Sumiyoshi’s distinct approach, the programme re-imagines taiko, folk performing arts, and music.

Well in advance of the premiere and nationwide tour, Kodo would like to invite its fans and supporters to join the cast on Sado Island as a test audience for an open rehearsal of this new work during its creation phase. It’s a rare opportunity to see a Kodo performance as a work-in-progress! We look forward to welcoming people to Sado in April from far and wide.

Please note that:

• Press and photographers will be shooting the open rehearsal performance.

• This rehearsal is for a work-in-progress and the content is subject to change on completion.

All test audience members will be asked to fill in a questionnaire to give feedback on the rehearsal. Admission will be free. Please bring a pen with you.

• Test audience members must refrain from taking photographs or audio/visual recordings at the venue.

• There are no planned performances of “MEGURU” on Sado Island. We hope Sado islanders will take this free opportunity to see this new work.
