Earth Celebration offers a variety of venues and free spaces for a wide range of events, performances and activities. The main events are the Shiroyama Concerts held each night, and you can also join in various workshops and fringe performances, or apply to set up a stall or do an open-mic performance at Harbour Market. This year, why not get off the sidelines and join the fun? One of the best things about the festival is the relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to find new friends and experience things unique to EC. There are some events which you can take part in spontaneously, but most events require advance reservations. For details, please refer to each individual event page.
One of the goals of Earth Celebration is to foster mutual understanding through shared experiences. Our aim is to make EC a festival not just to observe, but to actively participate in as well, so our workshops have a place at EC as important as the Shiroyama Concerts. Workshops provide participants with the opportunity to play music, make handicrafts, and experience the magic of performing folk arts from all over the world, not to mention the vibrant traditional arts of Sado Island.
Earth Celebration is made possible thanks to the wisdom, hard work and passion of innumerable individuals. You can take part by performing in open events or holding a stall at the market. Won’t you join in and help us make EC even better?
The Fringe stage is a free venue where EC guests can share some of their own artistic expressions. Everyone is welcome to apply regardless of performance genre or experience.

Located right in Ogi Port Park overlooking the ocean, Harbour Market is in many ways the heart of EC. Why not open up your own stall this year and be a part of the magic?
Participatory Events | Harbour Market
Every year we create a performance area in the Harbour Market called the “Happening Stage.” This feel-good, relaxed, outdoor open-mic venue is always full of surprises. Come by to share your own art, then kick back and see what your fellow festival-goers have to offer.
