It&#8217;s been a while since I posted on the Kodo Blog.<\/p>\n<p>How are you all doing?<br \/>\nOn Sado at night we can now hear crickets chirping as the season changes from summer to autumn. At the end of summer, we always enjoy taking part in our local town&#8217;s port festival, &#8220;Ogi Minato Matsuri.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_0273-ss-e1441098690787.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7435\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_0273-ss-e1441098690787-340x552.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Kosuke Urushikubo\" width=\"340\" height=\"552\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ogi Minato Matsuri is a festival in Ogi Town, where Kodo is based, that features lion dances, portable shrines (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">mikoshi<\/span>), folk songs and dances, festival drumming, Sado Onikenbai (demon sword dance), samba and more, all going from door to door throughout the town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_0240-ss.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7434\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_0240-ss-340x509.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Masayuki Sakamoto\" width=\"340\" height=\"509\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nKodo pulls a drum cart around the town and goes from house to house playing taiko to\u00a0show our appreciation to everyone in the town for their day-to-day support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/R0014265-e1441005845717.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7437\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/R0014265-e1441005845717-340x453.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Erika Ueda\" width=\"340\" height=\"453\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During this festival, you can see a side of Kodo that you don&#8217;t see when we perform on stage at theaters as we interact with all the locals. Next year, Ogi Minato Matsuri will take place straight after Earth Celebration for two days.
