They have supported Kodo in many ways over the years, including the storage\u00a0of some of our touring equipment in their studio!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC_0236.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC_0236-340x190.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Yui Kawamoto\" width=\"320\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC_0237.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC_0237-340x190.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Yui Kawamoto\" width=\"320\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Taiko performances, food, and games are enjoyed by friends and family\u00a0throughout the entire Obon weekend.<br \/>\nAt the end of each night many people gather for&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>Obon dancing!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6927\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC_0360-680x381.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0360\" width=\"640\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here at San Jose Obon, over 1,000 people gather and dance to live music\u00a0played by the Chidori Band and San Jose Taiko.<br \/>\nOne of the dance pieces is called <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Ei Ja Nai Ka<\/span>.<br \/>\nThe taiko music was composed by PJ Hirabayashi from San Jose Taiko and the melody\u00a0and lyrics that were written by Kodo&#8217;s Yoko Fujimoto.<br \/>\nThis is a popular dance piece that has been enjoyed for many years, mainly by the Northern Californian\u00a0communities, and it was truly wonderful to hear Yoko&#8217;s voice accompanying it live this year!<br \/>\nThis piece will actually make its debut at a further 18 new obon festivals this\u00a0summer,\u00a0so if you are in the United States this summer, make sure to check out an obon\u00a0festival near you!
