This programme is directed by Eri Uchida and performed by a newly assembled cast. It has a whole new feel, too!<br \/>\nI will play the <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">o-daiko<\/span> (big drum) on this tour. I am already so excited!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_1800-s-e1415426840956.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3708\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_1800-s-e1415426840956-340x474.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Erika Ueda\" width=\"340\" height=\"474\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now that I have gained stage and performing experience, I feel like I can do a variety of things, but when I approach the <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">o-daiko<\/span>, I want to forget everything and\u00a0feel brand new each time. As I\u00a0beat the drum, I just let myself go rather than trying to express myself.<br \/>\nI asked Yoshikazu, &#8220;How can you play the\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">o-daiko<\/span>\u00a0just by improvisation, without deciding any of the phrases you will play?&#8221; and he replied, &#8220;I go\u00a0into the sound that I create.&#8221; His words really stayed with me. Now,\u00a0I play as I feel, encouraged by my own sound.
