A typhoon had just passed by, but fortunately there wasn&#8217;t\u00a0much rain and wind so the event went ahead as planned.<br \/>\nWe took part as guest artists alongside nine\u00a0taiko groups from Eastern Tottori and one\u00a0taiko group from Osaka.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2862\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/news20140810inana-340x503.jpg\" alt=\"news20140810inana\" width=\"340\" height=\"503\" \/><br \/>\nThe performance ended with a fun collaboration where\u00a0all the performers sang and played a famous Japanese song, &#8220;Furusato,&#8221; and a local folk song,&#8221;Kinanse-bushi&#8221; together. This was accompanied by one of Tottori&#8217;s traditional performing arts, &#8220;Kasa Odori,&#8221; an umbrella dance, which made for an exciting\u00a0finale.<\/p>\n<p>The audience was smaller than expected due to the typhoon, but performances\u00a0were really amazing. I saw the first-half of the event from a seat in\u00a0the audience and I felt a great connection between\u00a0the audience and the stage. What&#8217;s more, it reminded me that it is not just taiko technique that moves people, but that simplicity is also key.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to send a round of applause to all the performers and staff at\u00a0&#8220;Inaba Wasaiko no Saiten.&#8221; Thank you for giving us the chance to appear at your event as guest artists.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2857\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kodo.or.jp\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_0426-680x510.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0426\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The day before the event, I led\u00a0a taiko and <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">shinobue<\/span> (bamboo flute) workshop. I was happy to receive this gift:\u00a0my very own\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Kasa Odori,\/span&gt; umbrella.
